The Graduate

Congratulations to our teammate, Heather, for picking up her grad degree.

Earlier this month, Heather received her master's in public health from GW's School of Public Health and Health Services last weekend.  She worked really hard for it.  Often, she would have to juggle group projects and papers with our indoor and outdoor seasons.

Heather and I met on craigslist, back when it was cool.  She was looking for a team, we were looking for a player.  Her first game with us was a disaster, one of our worst outings ever.  I'm talking about that Red Devils game in upper Northwest two years ago.  We lost 5-2, but it was a sheer meltdown.  Heather is pretty chill so it rolled off her back.  She came back the next week and settled in.  Another recruit had a different reaction.  She headed for the hills.  We returned to our winning ways pretty quickly of course.

What's the best Heather story?  That's easy.  The wrist.  I watched the doctor forcibly bend her forearm bones back into place at the hospital without many pain meds.  Don't question her toughness.

She's back to 100 percent for us.  Mostly, she plays on the wing.  Give her a little space and she can be creative with ball.  Definitely a team player.

Judging by her facebook updates, I think she likes Washington and wants to stay here for a while.  That's good for us.  More time with her on and off the pitch.

If you know an interesting fact about Heather, post it here!

Congrats Heather!
