Save the date for Champions League final
I'm thinking of a having a team BBQ for the Champions League final. It will take place Saturday afternoon, May 19th. The Euro cup gets started in early June, with that final occurring on July 1st. Following that, we'll have an Olympic final. Big summer.

Save the date for happy hour!
Looks like Chris D might take the lead on a happy hour. He's probably thinking Thursday or Friday of next week in DC, so save the date!

Happy hour announcement coming soon
A lot of people have been saying it's time for a happy hour. Besides the fact that it's overdue, a get-together would help to bring us together on the field.
We're working on it for next week and will send you details shortly.

Pre-season happy hour will happen
As you've seen from Cat's evite, we're having a pre-season happy hour on Friday, Aug. 27th. A friday happy hour means you should avoid early dinner plans!
After work, Cantina, be there.
All individuals are welcome - summer team, significant others, whatever. Come join us!

Heads up on fall schedule
Fall season starts on Sunday Aug. 29th. Please think about the following things and send me and Ally an email:
- Scheduling requests for the season. Let me know when you're traveling or when you might want early/late games. We might make some specific requests for the scheduler. When is the CUA alumni game? When is the Marine Corps marathon?
- Pre-season happy hour. Let's get that set up. I'm thinking Mon 8/23, Tues 8/24 or Friday 8/27.
- Pre-season scrimmage. We will try to schedule one. Dates under consideration are Fri 8/20, Sat. 8/21, Sun 8/22 or Friday 8/27.

Happy hour set

If you're on the summer league email, you probably saw the boss' email. Alyssa wants you to attend happy hour at Cantina Marina on Wednesday, July 28, 5:30-6ish. So you don't have a choice in the matter. Come and have a marg. It's going to be fun.
Everyone is welcome. You don't have to be on our awesome 2-0 summer league team to come. Average joes are also welcome.

Code Orange!
Code Orange is the name of our summer team. It's a nod to the colors of both Goleros and Tsunami, with the obligatory Washington, DC double entendre. Code Orange is a threat-level on the Homeland Security awareness scale, as well as a term used by local weather folks for really hot and nasty days when the air quality sucks.
We won't be sucking, however.
We are ready to play. We signed a keeper this week, which makes our summer squad complete. Welcome Galen!
Now, if we only had a schedule. I am guessing it will come out soon. In any event, be read to play on Sunday, July 11th. I think we'll be sending out evites instead of the customary RSVPs on the blog that Goleros players are used to.
We are also doing a happy hour in the next couple of weeks at Cantina Marina. Stay tuned for more on that. Cat from the Goleros is organizing.
We will be providing the jerseys for the summer team - either Goleros' jerseys, Tsunami's or whatever.

Team completes grueling training session
Among the various "drills" were Margs, Coronas, and appetizers.
Great happy hour. We should do it more often. We met more of the Cantina staff, including Rich, the manager who has set us up with this great sponsorship.
Now, about the game. We need to process the Tequila and be ready for Sunday morning. Itchy & Scratchy found our number in the last game and defeated us 3-2. Read about it here.
I don't have any motivational speeches. How about listening to this onerepublic video? I kind of like this song.
See you Sunday!

Busy week!
In 7 days, we played 3 games and had a kegger. That's darn productive.
Our match on Sunday June 6th was called just before the half due to lightning. Our two-goal lead versus DC Thunder was lost to the soccer gods. We replayed the match this Wednesday in our firstever weeknight match. It was a great match, although we could only muster a tie this time. Adrian scored in the 10' minute with a very strong move on the wing. He dribbled into the box and showed a lot of finesse with a tricky shot to the far post. Although we were busy attacking for much of the game, we only got a handful of chances after that. And we couldn't finish them.
DC Thunder scored in the first half too when we fell asleep for just a second and they sent Roland on a through-ball. I missed the best chance at a tackle and he blew past me. This scenario would replay itself over and over. As the match drew on, we were less and less effective at deterring the long ball to Roland. But our last lines of defense - Ally and George - got stronger. We preserved the point.
Good times.
Notes: 1-1 tie versus DC Thunder, 6/9/2010, Wilson High School (DC). Goal: Adrian (unassisted). GK: George. PK opportunity by Mike after Adrian was dragged down in the box (miss).

Details of Tailgate
The league is hosting a DCU/ AC Milan tailgate. Here are the details:
This is the final email I am sending regarding the tailgate. Thanks to everyone for helping me put this event together. Details as follows:
Where we will be: close to the tunnel in lot 8. (probably about 50 yards from the tunnel)
What we will serve: Wednesday is taco night. Come construct your own chicken tacos. Served with sides of lettuce, black olives, cheese, salsa, freshly made guacamole, and peppers. Also we will have refried beans as a vegetarian option.
What else we will serve: Noodles, rice, fruit salad (mango, oranges, apples, blueberries and strawberries)
Dessert: Whatever looks tasty enough at Costco when I go tonight
Drink: We will have a keg of the good stuff, and when I mean good stuff, I mean reminscent of the old college days. There will also be soda and a decent supply of bottled water.
Recycling: Absolutely. No waste here. Please recycle in the bin I will bring to the game.
What you should bring: Really nothing, but if I have left something off, feel free to bring it along.
What I look like: I want to use the word handsome, but a little stronger than that :)

Last thing to know: All together, our efforts have sold just under 150 tickets. I asked for offical RSVPs and I only got about 50 responses so far. Presumably, more will attend the tailgate. I will try my best to plan accordingly, but if we should run out of food or drink, my sincerest apologies. I recommend bringing some money in case you need to purchase something from the stadium.

Team outing to the DCU game
We got a bunch of tickets to the DC United game on Saturday, April 17th. The 7:30 game is versus the Chicago Fire.
Unfortunately, all of our free tickets are taken. But feel free to contact Zach Walker at DCU for your own tickets. There will likely be plenty of room to watch the game in the same place.

Thursday practice & happy hour
On Thursday, we're joining another team for practice from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at Wakefield High School in Arlington. I believe the practice is going to be on the lighted turf fields in the back of the school, towards the north side. We've played games there.
Afterwards - in other words, sometime after 8:30 - we're headed to Shirlington for some drinks. The place is called Bungalow Billiards. It's on the backside of the main strip.
See you there!
Thanks to Cat & Chris for organizing.
