Visit Cantina Marina!

Every time I go to Cantina Marina I enjoy it.  It's an oasis in Southwest, a nice spot on the water.

Thanks to Rich for re-upping the sponsorship for this year!

Cantina remains on board as sponsor

I recently talked to Rich at Cantina Marina and he reiterated his support for the team again this season. We're going to see them for plenty of happy hours and we will continue to wear the fancy jerseys that the bar funded last season for us.

We may even explore some league-wide events at the bar for the World Cup or otherwise.

Let's thank our sponsor for their support.

I'm looking forward to my first margarita of the season.

You can wear it anywhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, I know you have taste. That's why you would look great at the gym, or on a jog, with your own personalized team jersey.

In response to several requests, we're going to make a supplemental order of jerseys. These are for personal use. You can take them home with you and wear them for whatever - Bubbles may wear one to his wedding. Of course, you have to pay for them this time.

The cost is $35. I'm going to make the order in a few days. Pay in advance via paypal.

Let me know if you're interested. Tell me your desired size and number. Ideally, you will choose a number that is not in our existing pool, which means you'll try to avoid #0 and #'s 2-20.

New jerseys on order

As you've read on this blog, we have new jerseys on order. Believe it or not, it's been 3 years since our last order. I am expecting the new kits in time for our Sept. 27th game.

This has been made possible by Cantina Marina - and through the teamwork of Ally, Griz, and Jer.

The new jerseys will be white, to provide contrasting home/away jerseys since we often get into color conflicts with other teams who play in orange, red, or yellow. They are high-quality adidas jerseys that should stand up to a beating and perform well in the heat. We are placing the Cantina logo center chest. On the upper left chest, we will have a new "badge" with an updated Goleros 10-year anniversary commemorative logo designed by Griz. Simple and cool.

High-quality jerseys with customization and numbering are expensive. Even a generous sponsorship contribution can't fully cover the costs. We will be asking players for a contribution of $10 each. That's a sweet deal. It works out for everyone.

Let's all welcome our new sponsor...Cantina Marina

I am pleased to announce that we have our first sponsor!

You probably heard the rumors before or during happy hour a few weeks ago. Two of our new players, Elyse and Suzie, have connections at Cantina. They talked to their general manager, Rich, and he agreed to provide some generous sponsorship support. He's familiar with our league from his days at Fado.

This is a great situation for everyone - another team captain remarked to me that Cantina Marina would be an outstanding sponsor for us. And it seems everyone on the team agrees. We look forward to providing Cantina with as much visibility as possible, and also some good times in the riverside bar.

The first step is putting the Cantina logo on our jerseys. In fact, we have some new jerseys on order that I think you're going to like. That's the subject of a future post.

Let's welcome Cantina Marina on board. This is pretty exciting and cool.

Deal in the works

Good news.

We're close to bringing on Cantina Marina as a sponsor this season.

Elyse and Suzie, who work there, have been really helpful in helping us reach this new milestone. Judging byhow well last night's happy hour went, and what a sweet spot Cantina Marina is, I think this would work out great.

Hopefully, we can get it done!

Stay tuned.

Bring your dog to happy hour

Cantina Marina, the location of our Monday, Aug. 24th happy hour, is dog friendly. According to their website, you can bring your dog to happy hour on Mondays.

That sounds fun.

Imagine if Moxie and Ty could have a reunion. They got along so well together.

See you there!

We want a sponsor

LinkPut the word out.

We're looking for the right partner for the Spring 2009 season and beyond. The time is right. We have a great team - we're established, successful, and fun. The Spring 2009 season offers a special opportunity to bring on board a sponsor because it will mark our 10th year.

Have any good ideas?

Traditionally, rec soccer teams attract local bars and restaurants. Tortilla Coast, McFadden's, and Capitol Lounge are some initial ideas. We also want to look at small businesses, especially those operated by friends and family. Nate's and ET's businesses come to mind, as do some realtors. A range of businessses are already seeking more visibility in our demographic: shirt printing companies, Zipcar/Flexcar, SmartBike, doggie daycares, etc, etc.

We offer a good value proposition and look forward to improving someone's business. We can offer space on new jerseys and/or other limited financial support for the team in exchange for great visibility and the opportunity to increase sales. Our demographic goes beyond the estimated 60-70 individuals that closely follow our team to the CCSL community, which includes more than 1,000 upwardly mobile players plus their friends and family. Advertising gets directly to these people in a memorable way.

Hopefully we can strike a deal. Let me know if you're interested in helping or have some ideas.
