Don't forget, they will be coming for us.  We had some scheduling issues that their team may have viewed as preventing a fair matchup.  They were almost relegated as a result before they managed a win in the last week to stay in our division.  They will be coming ready to settle the score.  Will you let them?

We play recently-promoted Geezers at 3:00 p.m. at Dunbar HS.  They will be hungry to show that they belong in this division, which they fully do.  But can we beat them?

The game is at DUNBAR HIGH SCHOOL.  That's a field change from the first time the schedule was announced.

Man, we've played these guys a lot recently.  We played them 2-3 times in years past.  And then last season, we played them twice.  Once didn't count.  The other one, scheduled during the week, ended in a draw.  If they would have scored in those final minutes - and believe me, it was close - I think we would have turned around and played them in the playoffs a few days later.  It would have been three games against Thunder in, like, a week.

Our first of two night games is this coming Sunday Sept. 12th, 9:00 p.m., George Mason High School in Falls Church. It's walkable from the West Falls Church Metro, and right off Route 7 if you're driving.

Fall soccer is back.

Are you in for this match? 

Wilson HS is located in upper Northwest, near Ft. Reno Park.  It is metro accessible.  This field takes a while to reach on foot from the parking areas so show up early.  this is where we played our night game last spring.

Based on our draw last night, we finished 4th in the Division. Therefore, we will play the 5th seed in the first round of the playoffs. That is Taz Devils. Even though they're 5th seed, they are the best team playing in the first round other than us. So this will be an extremely challenging game. They beat us 5-2 during the regular season.

Game is Sunday at 11:00 a.m. at Ridge.

Be there 30 minutes early since it's playoffs.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we go back into action for the regular season this Sunday.

The last game of the season is here. I'm really looking forward to it because the pressure is off. Yet we can still accomplish so much. A win would send us squarely into the middle of the table and we could even play spoiler for Celtic or Diplomats. Both of those teams "stole" points from us this season. Celtic waltzed away with a win in week 2 - lucky [bleeps] - and we tied Diplomats.

Stay tuned throughout the week as there is a slight chance that the game will be moved to Ridge if the field at Trinity is unplayable. It was kind of sad to see it beat up last week. Hopefully it will be re-seeded and grated in the offseason.

We're passing the halfway point in the season, and points are getting important. We play the top team in the division, Gang Green, and I'm sure they're expecting a win given that they're 4-0.

2:00 p.m. at Ridge in the District. If you've never been, allow exta time to get there. It's not easy to find.

The fourth game of the season offers us a great opportunity to put ourselves back at .500.

We already know that Kristin, Alec, Tracy, and Katya are out.

Another big game. We play Armory, a team against whom we have done well over the past few years. We have beaten them in the regular season the last two times. They eliminated us in the playoffs a year ago when we played the evening game at W&L and went down in PKs. They also killed our merged summer team 7-3 as recently as August 23, 2009. They had a fast striker who had a deft touch and loved to run right at the defense.

We play Prism this Sunday at High Noon (12:00) at Trinity.

Prism is another team coming down from 1st division last season so it's not going to get any easier. We need to show up in full force, ready to go, like last week.

OK, folks, it's time to rebound from our hard-fought loss two weeks ago. We're playing Celtic at the crack of dawn in Southeast (Ridge Field - see earlier post).

We MUST have a good showing for this game. The start time cannot be a factor.
