Standings

After five games, here are the standings:

CCSL>Second Division>Rank Team W L T GP PTS GF GA GD GDA 1 Gang Green 4 0 1 5 13 22 7 15 3.0 2 Little Urban Achievers 3 0 1 4 10 13 2 11 2.8 3 Itchy & Scratchy 3 1 1 5 10 15 12 3 0.6 4 The Diplomats 3 2 0 5 9 15 8 7 1.4 5 Armory 2 1 2 5 8 16 11 5 1.0 6 Celtic 2 1 1 4 7 8 9 -1 -0.3 7 Lost Tourists 2 3 0 5 6 11 10 1 0.2 8 Goleros 1 2 2 5 5 15 13 2 0.4 9 Quicksilver FC 0 5 0 5 0 2 23 -21 -4.2 10 Prism 0 5 0 5 0 1 23 -22 -4.4

At the top of the division, Gang Green's rise has been slowed, but not stopped, due to our recent tie. LUC is chasing, but they've played the bottom tier teams thus far. Hopefully, we can knock them off their perch after the bye week and restore a little balance to the standings. The Diplomats are also having a great season. Again, we have a chance to disrupt that on Oct. 25th.

At the bottom, you have winless Quicksilver and Prism. They currently own the relegation zone. We conspicuously occupy the 8th spot, with only 5 points after 5 games. Given our effort in the last two games, that's a cruel result. It will get worse too, because we aren't playing this weekend and the teams near us could open up the gap, and the teams below us could close the gap. But good deeds will be rewarded. I foresee a rise up the table in the final weeks if we bring that same attitude to the game. We can finish with as many as 14 points, which is a good season and will likely give us a playoff spot. We can't take anything for granted though. We need more points to be assured of staying in Second Division so it's going to be a fight no matter what.

  1. Last night, I was able to cut and paste the entire table into this post. On my machine at work, it's just a bunch of unintelligible numbers. Sorry.
