Ray Hudson is just about the best soccer commentator in the USA right now, and if you don’t have GolTV, you wouldn’t know it.  Regardless, with gem quotes like this “This ball's played in, it's a good ball. He's got it all to do. He rides Marcelo, and this hit is hotter than a black leather skirt on Sophia Loren.”, you can see why he has a following.

I say move over ESPN commentators (Tommy Smythe, Eric Wynalda and crew).  No one matches Ray Hudson’s mixture of zaniness and enthusiasm.  A true original in the American soccer landscape (even if he is actually from England)

 

My favorite quote from him came last year during the Real Madrid-Mallorca match to end the season.  Tom Cruise was in attendance and the television kept showing him, as well as Spanish tennis champion Rafael Nadal.  Here’s what Ray had to say (Phil Schoen is the play-by-play man).

 

“And that's why you see those beautiful tears of a man whose heart is bursting, Iker Casillas...(other announcer) 'Tom Cruise?'
